Letter regarding Re-opening of School for Autumn/Winter- 31st October 2020

Dear Parents / Guardians

The NI Assembly has confirmed that all schools will re-open on Monday 2nd November.  We feel our whole school community managed well to the adjustments in the first half term but we are aware that we now face a difficult time with winter weather and the cold and flu season coming into play.

We will continue to have our new safety measures & new school day timetable and routines in place and we are grateful to our pupils, staff and parents /guardians for following these.

Can I remind all parent / guardians that pupils should only be on school grounds from 8.45am.

It is vital that any pupils who are unwell or showing any symptoms do not attend school, are isolated and get tested alongside those in their household in line with PHA guidance. Our school website has a Covid-19 Section with lots of useful information for families. Please continue to inform us during the process by telephoning us during the school day on 028 44 841343 or by emailing

Additional safety arrangements for Autumn/Winter.

Even with poor weather please follow our strict plan for leaving pupils off and collecting them each day. Remember ‘Drop & Run’ & ‘Collect & Go’. The Minister of Education and Minister of Health have highlighted parents / guardians congregating at school gates as a possible risk of spreading of COVID-19 so please take account of this.

In order to keep classrooms well-ventilated, windows will be open when possible so pupils should consider wearing extra under layers eg thermals and extra layers under uniform.

It also continues to be essential that parents / guardians visiting our school office wear face protection.

Many thanks for your continued support and we look forward to seeing all our lovely pupils again on Monday.

Mr Kevin Burns
