Building Works on School Site Notice to Parents
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Following a successful Minor Works Application to the Education Authority, we will have Building Works commencing this week on replacing the entire School Roof at a cost of approximately £250,000. This cost will be covered by the Education Authority and not at a cost to our School Budget.
The replacing of our School Roof is a very positive step and further ensures our local community will have a School Building in St Nicholas’ PS, Ardglass that is kept in excellent condition for our current pupils and going forward for the years to come. This is a good news story for our whole school community as you can imagine getting any government funded Building Works done in this current economic climate is very difficult and rare.
A Site Meeting took place onsite today finalising the Schedule of Works with representatives from the Education Authority present alongside the appointed Building Company and myself to plan the works in a safe and organised manner. Impact to classes and inside school will be minimal and will be closely monitored throughout. I envisage access to the school for parents, pupils and staff should be as normal and specific areas where scaffolding etc are located will be fenced off appropriately.2023
Builders will be present onsite from later this week to approximately May as an early estimate. Should any parents have any concerns or have any difficulties during the time of the Building Work onsite, please contact myself or the school office.

World Book Day
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We are celebrating ‘World Book Day’ on Thursday 2nd March 2023.
As part of these celebrations, we are encouraging all pupils to dress up as a WORD and participate in a vocabulary parade in school.
E.g. A child could come as the word Indigo (a much better word than blue) and they can come dressed in clothes all of that colour.
Below are some examples of a child dressed as a word.
As part of these celebrations, each class will take part in World Book Day themed lessons and activities to encourage a love of reading and being read to.
If you have any questions, please contact the myself or the school office.
Many thanks,
Mrs Wilson
Literacy Co-Ordinator
