Dear Parents,

Welcome to St. Nicholas’ PS, Ardglass.

I hope you enjoy your visit which will give you an opportunity to learn more about our school and the education we provide for all our pupils. St. Nicholas’ PS, Ardglass provides a secure, caring and happy environment in which all children are treated as unique individuals and can develop their skills, talents and abilities to their full potential. We take great pride in our pupils being great ambassadors of our school and families.  We have high expectations of everyone in our school community, ourselves as educators of your children, our pupils and you as partners in helping your children grow, mature and ready themselves for the next big steps in their education and lives after primary school.

We strive to give children the confidence to try new things and explore the full range of learning opportunities in order to grow in self-confidence and independence. We believe this will enable our children to be better prepared personally, academically, spiritually and socially for the challenges of young adult life. We are very fortunate to have an excellent team of teachers and support staff. The enthusiasm from a highly motivated team, coupled with our modern accommodation and resources has led to St Nicholas’ PS, Ardglass being a very vibrant and dynamic school.  We have invested in our school building with the upgrading to a new school roof, future-proofing the school building for years to come and to make our school incredibly energy-efficient.  

Upgrades in our physical resources over the past few years have blessed us with fantastic internal and external resources allowing our pupils to engage fully in a broad and balanced curriculum in an exciting way.  Recent additions include our wonderful Sensory Room, our Nautical themed Eco-Garden and Play Area, our two additional Specialist Provision Classrooms with their very own play areas and our latest installation of a super new enclosed play area especially for our Primary 1 & Primary 2 pupils but utilised by all classes appropriately.

Our school is set within the beautiful village of Ardglass allowing us to enjoy close links with our local community and local community groups and provisions including Ardglass Harbour and Marina, Ardglass Golf Club and allowing us to explore the many interesting sights in Ardglass including the many Castles of Ardglass for our projects in many classes. Our school is equipped with the very latest resources and technology and has excellent indoor and outdoor facilities to provide an enriching environment for your child.

By working in close partnership with you, we will ensure that your child thrives in St. Nicholas’ PS, Ardglass, accesses many exciting curricular and extra-curricular opportunities and grows and matures into a strong, independent young person ready for their next steps in education and in life.
