  • Good-bye Mrs Sharvin

    Wed 28 Jun 2017 MMcG

    👋Good-bye Mrs Sharvin😢

Mrs Sharvin wanted to pass this message on to everyone

    Dear Parents, grandparents and pupils

I am afraid I was too emotional to speak coherently today, so I have taken to Facebook/school website to say what I should have said earlier.  Firstly I want to thank the children for their beautiful tributes I am honoured that they thought so highly of me. Secondly I want to pay Regards to the P7 children and wish them success and happiness in their new schools, I hope they make new friends and retain the friendships they have already made in St Nicholas. Thirdly I want to thank all the parents and grandparents who have been so kind and generous to me over my 21 years I have enjoyed many a laugh over the years and I truly appreciate your friendship. I already miss the children terribly but now that I'm going to have free time on my hands,  I just want to let you know that I'm available for the odd bit of free babysitting if you are stuck!😜 Finally I want to thank the Parents Association, and all the Staff for their beautiful gifts, generosity, and kindness. I am deeply touched by all your displays of affection and I am very sad to be leaving you all behind but I will always cherish the friends and the lovely memories I have made😍 But for now I'll take my leave and  wish you all good health to enjoy a long and happy future.

    Yours truly

    Karen Sharvin xxxx

Lastly a huge thanks to our hardworking group of PTA ladies who gave up their Friday to work at the cafe and tombola stand. We appreciate all your efforts. Enjoy your weekend everyone😀

  • Local author visits school

    Wed 31 May 2017 MMcG

Northern Ireland author, Adrian Thompson visited the school today and read extracts from 'The Itchy Feet Guide to Ulster.'

The book is made up of character based cartoons, narrative stories, games, puzzles and activities aimed at introducing children to the history, myths and legends of the province of Ulster.

It also encourages children to get out and explore various attractions that Ulster has to offer - including for example the Ulster Museum, Ulster American Folk Park and Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, Giants Causeway, Navan Fort and Titanic and Carrickfergus Castle as well as many other places of interest.

The P5/6 class worked on some extension tasks during their Creative Writing lesson with Mr Burns and enjoyed the activities related to the book.

The book is £9.99.  If you would like more information go to www.itchyfeetguides.com

    🚲Sustrans - Ditch the Stabilisers🚲

Some of the P1-P3 children had a great day today with Emma from Sustrans.
She helped remove the stabilisers from the children's bicycles and encouraged them to pedal by themselves. The children got on really well and were able to pedal on their own in lots of different activities. They had a great day - thanks Emma.

Below is a link from YouTube about helping your child how to cycle without stabilisers! 👍🚲
