Monday 29th June

Good morning Primary Four

I cannot believe this is the last Monday message of this school year...and what a year it has been!!  I am so lucky that you have been my first class in St Nicholas' Primary School and although it came to a sudden end in March, you will always hold a special place in my heart. You have all worked so well during these challenging times and I really enjoyed receiving your work and photos from home- feel free to keep sending me some summer photos on Seesaw!

To the parents... You have been so supportive and completed the difficult task of home schooling for the past 14 weeks. A big thank you!!

I think this little poem I wrote sums up our year together in Primary Four.

Have a brilliant summer, stay safe, keep smiling and I will see you all in August.

Miss S heart

Hi Primary Four

I hope you are all keeping safe! Our Seesaw App is up and running and most of you have connected- thank you.  It is a great way to keep in touch!! The children can post their work or any fun activities they are doing at home. I have received some great work and beach photos already!! I will update the class page with a weekly focus and will also post it on the app. If you need help with anything don't be afraid to ask- we're all in this together ๐Ÿ™Œ

Email: gsomerville474@c2kni.net

Monday 22nd June

Hello Primary Four.  I hope you all enjoyed the weekend even if it was a bit wet!  This week I have two challenges for you.  Firstly I would like you to have a look at our Summer Reading Poster and follow the link to sign up.  I would really encourage you all to take part in this as reading during the Summer months is very important!!  There are lots of books for you to choose- you will all find something you enjoy!!

https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

The second challenge for this week is something very special.  I am sure you are all missing your grandparents during lockdown.  Maybe you get to visit them outside to say hello.  Unfortunately the residents in Ardview Nursing Home cannot see their family and friends as no one is allowed to visit.  I would like you to write a letter to a resident in Ardview.  If you know someone in the Nursing Home you can address it to them, if not, just write Dear Friend.  I have included some examples of letters below that some boys and girls your age have written.  There will be a box in Ardview where you can post your letter.  You can also send your letters for me to read on Seesaw and email.

Have fun

Miss Ssmiley

Monday 27th April

Good morning Primary Foursmiley I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  I know we should have been celebrating your First Holy Communion on Saturday- but don't worry, you will get to celebrate it again very soon! I hope you all enjoyed the little video I put together of some of the great times you have had together this year in Primary Four.  This week I would like you to focus on the following:

Reading

Keep up the great reading at home!  Continue to use Oxford Owl and don't forget you can login to Bug Club too!

Literacy

In your home learning pack you will find a template of 'The Ardglass Times'.  I would like you to write a newspaper report on what is going on in the world today!  You should explain what is happening in your local community, how it is different and who helps to keep you safe.  Remember to use fingers spaces, capital letters and a range of punctuation!  Upload to Seesaw when completed!

Numeracy

Time- Digital Clocks. We see the digital clock everyday on iPads, phones and computers!  There are 4 numbers on a digital clock.  The two numbers to the left of the dots tells us the hour and the two numbers to the right of the clock shows us the minutes.

12:00- The time is twelve o'clock.

12:30- We can see it is thirty minutes after 12- so the time is half past 12.

This week I would like you to focus on telling the time using the digital clock.  You will find work on this in your home learning pack and take a look at the links below!

https://www.visnos.com/demos/clock  (parents can set the time on this clock and the child can guess what time it is)

Reading

Oxford Owl is a great resource for reading- aim to read one book every week- just like we do in class!

Literacy

This week I would like you to focus on plurals.  Remember the different rules we have learnt in class. You will find some activities on this in your Home Learning Pack which you will receive on Wednesday! Have a go at playing this plurals game!
